Our Original Juri Ueda Painting

One of my favorite contemporary artists agreed to make an original painting for us a few months ago and here is the watercolor painting we got in the end. The painting was held in the customs declaration for some time but here it is finally, adorning our life :] It’s a watercolor painting of me my husband and our little cat Copy under a sakura tree in Holland.. I thought the colors could be lighter and softer but perhaps they will fade away in time..

Wizzard Brooch (Inspired by Terry Pratchett’s Rincewind)

Spending some time on my girly hobbies, here is the result: a brooch in shape of a wizard hat with a “Wizzard” word on it, totally inspired by the funky wizard Rincewind of Terry Pratchett’s Discworld novels.

La Petite Pâtisserie – La Défense Du Gâteau

Here is a game I designed for my Visual Design course at Vrije Universiteit Amsterdam.
It is a tower defense game where you have to defend your cake tower from hungry mice.
You can put butter, cheese, jelly jam etc. on the shelves to slow the mice down or decrease their hunger until they reach the cake.
All the graphics are belong to me :P
The music track is from a loyalty free music website called jamendo

Canon Pro 9000 Big Baby

This weekend was perfect for playing around with my new Canon Pro 9000 Mark II printer. It’s a big baby but works perfect with thick fine art papers with the front feed option which takes in the paper without bending.
Here are some Polaroid-like pictures and my original drawing turned into a postcard with it.

Volunteer @ CAMeRA Research Day

19 March 2010 is the CAMeRA(Center for Advanced Media Research Amsterdam) Research Day where researchers will show off their works in Game Cella’ Technical Lab in Vrije University Amsterdam. Here, researchers will be testing the new ways to control virtual space. Equipments that will take place include: 3D Studio Max 2010, a 3D Laser scanner, a biking system in second life -which I will be helping with the demo of-, a 3D screen with games, a NeuroSky headset game (BCI gaming), Wii and other gaming consoles and of course some robots :) You can find more about this day here.

“A Troublesome Day” Storyboard

This is my cat “Copy”.

He is a lucky cat, to be in a house, warm and cosy, always having his food on time, being loved and scratched any time he wants..

He has his daily routines. This includes sleeping, eating, watching the birds, destroying the curtains, destroying the couch, sleeping, eating, being scratched, using his litter box, hitting the walls of his litter box instead of digging the sand, eating, cleaning himself.

He has an adventurous and curious heart, driving him to take weird actions other than these routines. He is curious about any whisper-like sound he hears, he cannot help it, he should check it out. And smelling and chewing on anything that is new in the house are two of his favorite things to do.

As a result of his nature, I took his life as the subject of my storyboard. And I experimented with balloons a little bit :) Unlike how I thought, he is scared of them.. And this was the storyboard of my experiment..
